Meech International Shows Strength in Static Control at Drupa 2008

11.02.08

As well as providing solutions for end-users who are looking to retro-fit web cleaners on their printing presses, Meech works in partnership with manufacturers such as Edale to ensure that they offer their customers dust free printing from the minute of installation.

Meech has combined its expertise in static and dust control systems to develop the Tornado. Combining static eliminators, brushes and a high power vacuum dust collection system, the Tornado System ensures that dust contamination is eliminated and  also that the risk of further dust attraction is minimised. Compared to other web cleaners, the Meech system offers significant advantages. There are no expensive consumables or machine downtime required for their replacement. No moving parts within the cleaning head means minimal maintenance and there is no fall off in performance over time, as happens with sticky roller and non-contact systems.

The Meech 976 Feedback system overcomes the problem of static build-up on fast moving printing lines by automatically sensing the residual static charge on the target material and reacting to it. Removal of static is important as product surfaces can become contaminated with small particles and this raises important quality issues. Residual static charges also have a detrimental effect on machine performance (such as reel winding) and static-related shock is a particular concern for worker health and safety. Full technical details will be available on the stand plus Meech personnel will be present to discuss individual applications.

Other products include the new 983v2 Static Locator that provides an accurate measurement of static electrical charges. With a larger easy-to-read digital output display, its modern ergonomic design means that it is easier to operate than previous versions. Other solutions on show will be the Meech 915 Shockless AC bar and 976 Long Range DC bar, AC shockless ionising bars, ionising air blowers, ionising air curtains, guns and nozzles.
